Peer-to-peer support for trans and gender diverse people

Project: Olomouc Pride Fair 2026
The first phase of the project focused on mapping the life experience and the needs of queer people in the Olomouc Region. The second phase then materialised in the first Olomouc Queer Festival featuring discussions, workshops, educational activities, and art events. The goal was to empower and connect local queer individuals, raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in the region, and offer an inclusive event that has been missing in Olomouc until now.
“Thanks to the support of the Pride Business Forum Fund, we were able to organize the first Olomouc Rainbow Fair, which included a showcase of nonprofit organizations, panel discussions with experts, a cultural program focused on queer art and topics, and other off events organized by local groups. We used the grant to assess the needs of the local queer community, pay the organizing team, cover marketing and promotion costs, and organize the cultural program.”

Project: Kutná Hora Pride
The first edition of the Kutná Hora Pride festival featured a diverse three-day program. The goal was to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and to show that queer people have always been part of the Kutná Hora region, even if they haven’t organized themselves until now. For the local queer community, this was an opportunity to get to know one another and cultivate relationships within the community.
“Kutná Hora is the cultural hub of the Central Bohemian Region. Thanks to a generous donation, we were able to carry out our packed three-day program in its entirety, which attracted a wide range of people: local and out-of-town LGBTQI+ individuals, families with children, those interested in poetry, films, history, and music, and even casual passersby. The festival created a safe environment where people could get to know one another and experience the richness of human creativity and diversity at community and cultural events, as well as at the booths in Pride Park and at the Modrý kříž cinema. The donation from the Pride Business Forum Endowment Fund enabled us to secure performers, ensure the event’s safety, and provide the technical equipment for Pride Park.”
Pilsen Pride
Project: Pilsen Pride 2026
Queer people in the Pilsen Region still face prejudice and discrimination. In smaller towns and regions, safe spaces and public events focused on LGBTQ+ issues remain limited. That is why, for nearly a decade, Pilsen Pride has offered not only cultural and educational events, but above all a community space where people can be themselves, build friendships, and feel supported and understood.
“Putting together the full Pilsen Pride program was more efficient thanks to a grant from the Pride Business Forum, because we knew in advance what funds we could count on. We were able to compensate the performers—which we consider important—and cover all production costs. As a result, the festival was fully funded, and with the money we received from merchandise sales, we were able to organize additional queer-themed events throughout the following year.”
Ostrava Pride Month
Project: Ostrava Pride Month
Ostrava Pride Month is a festival celebrating diversity, respect, and equality that transforms Ostrava into the heart of queer culture for a month. The festival aims to entertain and educate, but also to highlight the fact that equal rights are a hallmark of every advanced society. The program is presented by a multitude of organizations, among them Bears of Ostrava and Logos, as well as independent groups and individuals.
“Financial support from the Pride Business Forum helped us significantly expand our options for organizing the second annual Ostrava Pride Month. We were able to invite guests from farther away and didn’t have to limit ourselves to free of charge venues. since part of this support was also allocated to PR, the funding from the Pride Business Forum allowed us to increase our reach and connect with a broader community of queer people and queer allies.”

Project: Brno support groups 2026
The support group project is the only one of its kind in Brno to address the increased loneliness and the declining mental well-being of LGBTQ+ people. As data shows, they often find it more difficult to make friends with whom they can share life experience and, by and large, to find a safe environment for open communication. The publicity of the groups hasn’t been sufficient so far, not reaching the full potential of people who could benefit from the support. The main goal of the project is therefore to promote the support groups among the relevant target groups.
“The Pride Business Forum Fund helped Q-Hub launch support groups for LGBTQ+ adults in Brno – something that had been missing here for a long time! We’re so glad that, thanks to the PBF, we were able not only to launch these groups but also to continue developing them in 2026. It’s a joy to see the results right before our own eyes: group participants often praise the interesting discussions and the safe environment within the groups. At the same time, we’ve worked to facilitate deeper connections, and many groups continue to meet to this day. Our community support is ideal for those who don’t want to look for friends at queer parties but would rather chat over a beer or while playing board games. Above all, we strive to support people who don’t always feel confident striking up a conversation right away. And it seems to be working!”

Project: Slavex Pride 2026
The Slavex Pride Festival has a unique format among Pride events: it isn’t confined to a single city, but over the course of a week brings lectures, cultural and social events, and workshops to multiple cities in the Zlín Region. In this way, it helps break down prejudices in an environment where barriers and stereotypes still persist, while also celebrating diversity and difference for those who cannot afford to travel to a safe space.
“Thanks to the grant and the funds it provides, we no longer have to rely solely on our own resources; instead, we can focus more on the quality and diversity of the events we organize. This also allows us to reach a wider audience and connect with people who have never even had a clue about the help we provide or what we’re creating in the Zlín Region. This leads to many new connections and, not infrequently, friendships that we are able not only to maintain but also to further develop.”

Project: Pride Week 2026
Brno Pride Week is a weeklong cultural and community festival. It helps ensure that queer people in the region don’t feel alone, giving them the opportunity to connect with the community, share their experience, and speak openly about their identity. The project is equally important in setting up local role models, opening a platform for Brno queer people to tell their stories, speak publicly, and become part of the region’s cultural identity. This helps normalize their presence and break down entrenched stereotypes.
“The support from the Pride Business Forum has helped us kick off preparations for the Brno Pride Week 2026 festival, secure the basic elements of the festival program, and provide assurance that the project can take place, as it helps cover the initial costs necessary for its full implementation.”
Transparent z.s.
Project: Peer-to-peer support for trans and gender diverse people
The goal of the project is to strengthen the peer-to-peer support system for trans and gender-diverse people and their loved ones. Amid growing anti-trans sentiment worldwide, Transparent organizes an extra number of in-person meetings and community events. Support groups offer a regular, safe, and accessible environment where participants can share their experience related to gender identity, transition, reactions from others, and challenging stressful situations.
“The self-help support groups we organize with PBF’s support help reduce social isolation among trans people and strengthen their mental resilience during various stages of transition. Thanks to PBF’s support, in 2025 we organized 19 regular support meetings for trans and gender-diverse people (a total of 210 participants), including a revived group for parents and for trans people in relationships. The funding we received enabled us to professionalize our facilitation team (training two new facilitators, regular supervision) and to implement a registration system to maintain a safe and high-quality space.”
Why we do this
We have a long history of helping companies and institutions create fair conditions for LGBTQ+ employees. Yet we know that feeling safe is important not only at work but also in our personal lives. This is why we also support LGBTQ+ people in other ways, both in Prague and in other regions, where they often feel isolated and might have fewer opportunities.
How we finance our support
