Europe celebrates 25 LGBTQ+ role models at first EPBN-WISE awards
On Europe Day, May 9, the European Pride Business Network (EPBN) hosted its first EPBN-WISE Role Models Award Ceremony at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw.

This was a historic event for Europe — an occasion where companies, public leaders, civil society, and diplomats came together to recognize 25 LGBTQ+ professionals and allies for their leadership and commitment to inclusion at work.
Celebrating role models across 5 countries
The role models honored for promoting equality came from five European countries: Austria, Czechia, France, Germany, and Italy.
“We are more than a business network — we are a movement,” said Matthias Weber, EPBN Chairman. “Our twenty-five role models show authentic leadership. They prove that visibility matters, that courage can inspire change, and that inclusion is Europe’s strength.”

Special recognition for allies and outstanding professionals
Beyond the 25 role models, EPBN also celebrated other inspiring LGBTQ+ professionals and allies who make a real difference for inclusion across Europe.
Outstanding professionals like Martina Bednar (Austria) and Garrett Dibon-Smith (Czechia) were recognised for their leadership, alongside dedicated allies like Jasmina Metzke and Florian Klimscha (Austria) and Frédéric Xerri (France), who continue to drive positive change in their workplaces.
A powerful moment of remembrance
After the ceremony, guests visited a special exhibit prepared by the Warsaw Queer Museum. The exhibit highlighted the rich and sometimes difficult history of LGBTQ+ people in Poland and Europe.
Christophe Margaine, EPBN-WISE Project Manager, reflected: “More than 220 people attended the ceremony — including representatives of 40 companies and 24 NGOs from 15 countries. Many more followed the livestream. This is a strong signal that Europe values inclusion.”
